Government Policy and the Development of Small-Scale Businesses in Nigeria
Abstract
The study explored how well small-scale business owners in Osun State understand government policies on financing and their ability to access financial support from government agencies. It also examined how these policies influence the growth and development of small businesses in the state. Additionally, the study highlighted the key challenges that hinder small business owners from fully benefiting from government financing programs.
The study used a survey research design and employed a convenience sampling technique to select participants from the study area. Data was collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using inferential statistical methods, such as regression and correlation analysis, to identify important relationships and trends.
The study found that many small-scale business owners had limited awareness and understanding of government financing policies. In response, it recommended that policymakers take steps to create a more supportive environment that enhances access to financial resources for small businesses in Osun State. It also highlighted the importance of reviewing and reforming existing financial policies to make them more accessible and beneficial to business owners.
