A Review on Blumea Balasamifera
Abstract
The medicinal herb Blumea balsamifera, which is used extensively throughout Southeast Asia, is thoroughly examined in this review with an emphasis on its pharmacological properties, phytochemistry, traditional usage, and possible therapeutic uses. B. balsamifera has long been used to treat a number of conditions, such as kidney stones, dermatitis, lumbago, and rheumatism. The plant's varied pharmacological characteristics are a result of its rich chemical makeup, which includes both non-volatile elements like flavonoids and volatile substances like terpenoids. Antioxidant, antibacterial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, and wound-healing capabilities are some of these attributes. The review compiles data on the plant's taxonomy, botanical description, colloquial names, and traditional therapeutic applications. The extraction techniques, chemical characterization, and several in vitro and in vivo investigations that support its bioactivity are also covered. The review also emphasizes B. balsamifera's potential in contemporary medicine, stressing the necessity for standardization and additional study to fully realize its therapeutic effects and guarantee its safe and efficient usage.
