Development and characterization of Banana Peel Nutraceutical Vati

Abstract


Rather than being an ignored waste, agricultural waste has gained attention in recent years and is now desirable to research and utilize. Banana strips stand out because of their bioactive substance parts, which have antioxidant and antibacterial properties and can be utilized pharmaceutically to treat a variety of ailments as well as good sources of natural antioxidants .When it comes to mineral content, potassium is the main mineral present in banana peels, followed by magnesium, calcium, sodium, and phosphorus. Additionally, the amounts of microelements including iron, manganese, zinc, and copper were present. The largest amounts of total phenolic, flavonoid, and tannin were found in the methanolic extract (80%), in that order. The Musaceae family's edible fruit, the banana, is grown in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. To make banana peels easier for consumers to use, they are made into vati ( ayurvedic dosage form). Vati is a pharmacological strategy wherein the powder of crude medications (natural or Herbo minerals) is pulverized with Kasayam, squeeze, or even honey, and the meds are ready as pills or tablets. Vati is a fundamental part of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics due to its different advantages, including simplicity of organization, satisfactoriness, and simplicity of administering and transportation. Finally, the development of vati has proven to be a superb source of fiber, potassium, antioxidants, and a number of other important nutrients.
