Drugs Acting On Poly Neuritis
Abstract
Poly neuritis a condition manifested by inflammation of multiple peripheral nerves, can be enhanced by many drugs that targets it's underlying causes and symptoms. Corticosteroids namely prednisone are potent anti-inflammatory agents that can play a role in decreasing nerve inflammation especially on polyneuritis. Corticosteroids inhibit the immune response and reduce inflammation. Potentially reliving symptoms and stopping further nerve damage. Long_ term usage of Corticosteroids may result in side effects. So careful monitoring is very essential. Intravenous immunoglobulin ( IVIG ) therapy provides concentrated dose of antibodies to modulate the immune response. IVIG assists the immune system and may show a beneficial effect in certain auto immune forms of polyneuritis. Plasma exchange eliminates antibodies. By removing harmful components from the blood, plasma exchange can assist in regulating the immune response. Analgesics namely acetaminophen or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs ( NSAID s ) may be helpful in treating ploy neuritis Long_ term of NSAIDs may show side effects abd Individual responses vary. Anti-convulsant drugs namely gabapentin or pregsbalin can help on reduced neuropathic pain and enhance nerve function. Physical therapy plays an important role especially in the management of poly neuritis. Disease_ modifying. Medications namely rituximab or cyclopshosphamide may be recommended especially in severe casestm to modify the immune response. Finally it is concluded that the treatment of ployneuritis involves a multifaceted approach and drug therapy plays an important role in managing the condition.
