CYBERSECURITY AND STUDENT AWARENESS IMPACT, LEGAL PROVISIONS, AND PREVENTION STRATEGIES
Abstract
In today’s digital world, students are increasingly dependent on the internet for education, communication, and entertainment. While this digital exposure offers many benefits, it also makes students vulnerable to various cyber threats such as hacking, phishing, identity theft, and cyberbullying. Cybersecurity awareness is essential to help students understand these risks and adopt safe online practices. This paper examines the level of cybersecurity awareness among students, the common threats they face, and the importance of educating them about digital safety.The rapid digitalization of higher education has transitioned cybersecurity from a technical oversight to a critical determinant of academic and personal stability. This report investigates the multifaceted impact of cybersecurity on the contemporary student experience, focusing on the dual spheres of academic integrity and digital lifestyle.
As students increasingly rely on interconnected Learning Management Systems (LMS), cloud-based research repositories, and public network infrastructure, they face an escalating landscape of threats including credential harvesting, intellectual property theft, and social engineering. For engineering students in particular, the stakes extend beyond personal privacy to the security of proprietary technical data and professional reputation.References
