QTrack: QR code based Framework for Automated Attendance Management

Abstract


This paper presents the development of a robust web-based Smart Attendance System designed to simplify and secure attendance tracking in educational or organizational settings. The system employs dynamic QR code generation that refreshes every 10 seconds to prevent misuse and unauthorized submissions. It supports validation of student roll numbers against a predefined list and incorporates device-based attendance restriction by limiting attendance marking to one roll number per device IP, ensuring data integrity. The platform provides real-time attendance tracking with instant updates and a dedicated lecturer dashboard access for monitoring attendance during sessions. Attendance records are persistently stored using SQLite, enabling reliable data management and easy export to CSV format. This user-friendly system automates verification, reduces manual errors, and offers a scalable solution adaptable to diverse environments. Future enhancements may include biometric verification to further improve security.
