Learning, Transformed:The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Education

Gagan. N, Gaytramma .., Devansh Mishra, Prof. Shrisha.K

Abstract

The rapid proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across global industries has initiated a profound transformation in the nature and structure of education. This report examines the multidimensional impact of AI-driven technologies on educational systems, with particular attention to the tension between technological progress and the fundamental human right to quality education. Drawing on secondary data sourced from UNESCO, the World Economic Forum (WEF), the OECD, and peer-reviewed academic literature, the report analyses both the positive contributions of AI—such as personalised learning, enhanced accessibility, and administrative efficiency—and the adverse consequences, including the risk of digital exclusion, erosion of critical thinking, data privacy concerns, and over-reliance on algorithmic instruction.

A dedicated discussion situates the educational impact of AI within broader frameworks of educational equity and the right to education under Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR, 1948) and Article 21-A of the Indian Constitution. The report concludes that AI's influence on education is neither uniformly beneficial nor inherently harmful, but depends substantially on the policy, pedagogical, and ethical frameworks through which it is deployed. Balancing innovation with equity is imperative for an inclusive and just educational future.
