Abstract


Bacterial infections are the most prevalent cause of gingivitis, an inflammatory disease of the gingival tissue. In contrast to periodontitis, the junctional epithelium does not migrate because there is no loss of attachment. This exercise describes how to assess and treat gingivitis and emphasizes the importance of the interprofessional team in treating individuals who also have this problem.
