Design of Portable Generator to Produce Efficient Power using Wind mill or Hand Pedal Mechanism

Sanjeev Kumar R. A., Swarnashree Padaki

Abstract

This paper gives the clear picture of generation of electricity using wind mill and mechanically operated hand pedal. The necessity of electricity is rapidly increasing. Due to this the rate of power generation should be increased. There are many ways of generating power, renewable and non-renewable energy sources. People now- a-days prefer renewable energy sources to generate power. Wind mill is one of the renewable energy sources which is used to generate electricity. Aero turbines are rotated using wind energy and are connected to the gear box. This mechanical energy is converted to electrical energy using power generator. The electrical energy generated can be used to run electrical appliances and other agriculture and domestic purposes. The electricity can also be stored in a battery for later usage. In the absence of sufficient air required to rotate the turbine, the hand pedal is used to rotate the gear shaft. Bicycle is the mode of transport which is commonly used in villages and rural areas. Villagers ride bicycle which can be used to generate power and also maintain the physical health. The main theme of this paper is how to generate power using renewable source of energy without harming the environment and keeping the surrounding clean. This is a portable device which can be carried to any place and can be used as alternating source of energy which is instantly available.
