Manjula Jayamma, C. Venkataiah, R. Sireesha

Abstract

The control of the power plant's generator, gathering of the necessary station data, analysis of the SCADA system's communication metrics, and forecasting of electricity production in the absence of hydrological events using historical data under an Internet of Things-based SCADA system are all covered in this paper. The SCADA system for hydropower stations is being modernised with an Internet of Things foundation in order to obtain the necessary data and manage the power plant for timely balancing with the national grid. The alarm system, data monitoring and control system, data logging and generated capacity, and other types of station information are all supported by this system. Furthermore, data packet analyzers and WiFi analyzers are used to examine the performance of the Internet of Things-based SCADA system, including communication metrics. Additionally, the production of hydropower stations is analysed and detected using historical data (produced electricity), and the output for the upcoming year is predicted using time series analysis. In this study, the generated capacity is statistically analysed using the real historical data from the Yeywa hydropower plant, which is gathered through on-site recording.
