Assessment of Food and Palliative Distribution during COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown
Abstract
Palliative apart from being diverted to unknown locations, the palliatives distribution method in Nigeria was inefficient, unorganised, and chaotic. This study was conducted to assess food and palliative distribution during COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in Ogbomoso, Oyo State. Data was collected using a questionnaire instrument, and the data was analysed using tables, frequencies, and percentages. The study discovered that, after a month of coronavirus outbreak, the majority of respondents received food and other palliatives from their politicians. The study recommends that the government at all levels should develop a palliative distribution network that will cover vulnerable residents. Database must be created to enable information regarding the vulnerables to be gathered and alternative, such as financial transfers should be provided instead of food products in the event of a subsequent outbreak.
