An Experimental Study on the Strength Property of Cement-Sand Mix by the Use of Standard Sand and Non-Standard Sand

Abstract

Here the study is done for the experimental investigation to assess the suitability of non-standard sand for determining the compressive strength of cement-sand mix. At present the compressive strength is obtained by using the code I.S. 650-1991. The requirement felt to replace this component by suitable substitute sand (non-standard sand) and results thus obtained made equivalent to that with the standard sand. Here, we tried to find a co-relation between the compressive strength of cement-sand mix using standard and non-standard sands. The sands samples were taken from three different sources namely Badarpur sand and beds of rivers Yamuna and Ghaggar.
