Study of Mechanical Properties of Pre-Stressed Basalt Fibre Reinforced Concrete – A Review

Abstract


Eco-friendly and sustainable construction is of paramount importance in the current industry, with the need for past paced construction techniques, there is a larger emphasis on the precast construction. Concrete is a versatile material which can be used in all construction applications, the aim of this paper is to understand and behaviour of concrete under various reinforcing material and suggest/identify alternative reinforcement to the concrete to be used in the prestressing applications. Use of man-made fibers such as basalt, glass and aramid are gaining popularity in the construction industry, the review aims to measure the feasibility of such fibers in the construction practices. Use of such hybrid fibers can minimize the environmental harm and achieve sustainability in the field of construction.
