Mumbai Metro Line-3:Segment Casting and Ring Building in Package: 04

Abstract


Keeping in track with the earlier establishment of the overhead Mumbai Metro Line -1 (Versova to Ghatkopar), the efficiency of the current underground Mumbai Metro Line-3 has been eventually enhanced.It is a significant project which involves underground activities, stretching from Colaba to Seepz via Bandra accounting to a distance of 33.50km. The site chosen to study is between Naya Nagar tunnellaunching shaft and Siddhivinayak Metro station along with the Casting Yard at Wadala which are part of Package 04. The distance between Naya Nagar and Siddhivinayakis about 3.6km and the Casting Yard at Wadala is 7.6km away from Naya Nagar. The activities which involves, Casting of Tunnel Segments and using these segments for Ring Building has been detailed with respect to the given site conditions. The step by step procedures of casting the ring segments and ring building used for tunnel lining in the initial drive have been discussed along with the equipment and materials used.
