A Review On Fracture Mechanics

Prem Sagar Kashinath, Prof. Rahul D Pandit, Dr. A.P. Wadekar

Abstract

This paper review is based on study of research conducted on fracture mechanics and study of the propagation of cracks in various materials at various locations with variable amplitude loading. And also, it’s used methods analytically solved for propagations of cracks in solids to calculate the driving force on a crack characterize inmaterial'sto resistance for fracture. In modern material science fracture mechanics is an important tool in improving the mechanical performance of structural member’s components on various components. It applies is in the physics for finding the stresses, strains, creep, shrinkages, Poisson’s ratio, elasticity and plasticity to the microscopic crystallographic form to find out in real materials in orders to predict the macroscopic mechanical failure and other effect on bodies. Fractography is widely used with fracture mechanics to understand the causes of failures and also verify the theoretical failure predictions with real life failures.
