THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURAL ANISOTROPIC PLATE

Nelson Tombra Akari, ODE THANKGOD, Barisua Ebenezer Ngekpe, Captain Gospel Otto

Abstract

This paper introduces an analytical model that evaluates the mechanical and structural properties of corrugated sandwich plates. The model is first validated by comparing the results of structural tests conducted on the sandwich plate under a four-point bending test configuration. The analytical model is based on structural smearing, classical laminate theory, and finite series. It is used to determine the plate stiffness, bending moments, and deflections. The results obtained from the model are presented alongside the results from laboratory experiments based on the four-point bending test. The tests were performed using an original testing apparatus designed to explore the potential of this technology. A computer program based on Excel is written for easy calculation of the data obtained.
