Abstract

In olden days, the concrete was manufactured by using fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, cement and water. Natural river sand was used as fine aggregate in olden days. After some decades, the river sand depletion was increased due to the over utilization of river sand in construction. To satisfy this river sand demand, many research scholars did research in construction to identify the alternate fine aggregate for river sand. They find out the M.sand as a suitable fine aggregate in construction which is substitute for river sand. But now a day, due to the growing construction field, M.sand will also unavailable in large quantity for next upcoming decades. Due to the scarcity of the fine aggregate in construction field, there is a huge need for an alternative waste material for the replacement of fine aggregate. This paper shows the utilization of waste foundry sand in the construction industry. This paper also shows the manufacturing of the construction materials like Bricks by using an industrial waste like foundry sand. Also we conducted water absorption and compressive strength test for the bricks at regular interval. For bricks, we conducted the compressive strength test at 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days. In which percentage of foundry sand gives the maximum strength to the blocks are also be recorded by conducting suitable tests in the laboratory as per the IS codes.
