FOUNDATION REHABILITATION

Ajay E R, Jikhil Joseph

Abstract

This seminar will deal with the critical procedures involved in the retrofitting and rehabilitation of foundations as a serious attempt to elongate life with improved structural integrity for the existing buildings and infrastructure. The prime objectives are to identify the most effective strategies that will provide a solution to settlement, structural deficiencies, and seismic vulnerabilities pertaining to foundations. It also includes the current technique review, underpinning, micro piles, and soil stabilization, seismic retrofitting, etc., and is supported by numerous case studies showing practical applications and results. It is found that by using a combination of advanced materials and tailored approaches, high performance and safety in the structures can be achieved. Thus, the seminar ensures the accuracy of diagnostics and proper method selection in successful rehabilitation results.
