Perception on Safety in Nepalese Construction Industry

Abstract


Safety is crucial prerequisite in construction projects. The objective of this research was to identify perception on safety in Nepalese construction industry. A questionnaire survey has been administrated to key parties involved in construction. The study shows that respondents prioritized PPE as first and elimination and substitution as least. The major preventive measure was safety training and major control measure was PPE. Thus, this research pointed out that the perception on safety in Nepalese construction industry is still in traditional. The modern safety concept is not much perceived by stakeholders of Nepalese construction industry as contractor still thought safety cost is expenditure. So for to introduce modern safety concept there must be effective monitoring, awareness program in construction industry.
