An IoT Based Vehicle Tracking and Theft Detection System using SMS Alert Hardware Design

Abstract


This article describes how an RFID-based access control and safety system was developed for use in university residence halls. The system uses both RFID technology and biometrics to carry out the job. When the hostel's RFID reader detects a valid ID number, it snaps a photo of the visitor and checks the database for a match. Entry is granted if the card and photo match a registered user's details; otherwise, the system raises an alert and dials the mobile security unit using a GSM modem. In this way, suspicious individuals might be captured.
