Modular Sensor System for Industrial Monitoring

Sajid Faraaz Ahmed, L David William Raj

Abstract

Industries today rely heavily on accurate and continuous monitoring of factors like temperature, humidity, vibration, pressure, and gases. Traditional sensor setups usually come with fixed functions, which makes them difficult to upgrade or maintain when new requirements arise. To address these issues, this project introduces a modular sensor system where each sensing unit can be easily added, removed, or replaced based on the situation. The system is built on a compact PCB with standardized connectors, allowing different sensors—such as temperature, humidity, vibration, and gas modules—to work together smoothly. A low-power microcontroller handles data collection and wireless communication, while efficient power management ensures long-term operation. With its flexible design, simple maintenance, and scalable architecture, the proposed system provides a reliable and future-ready solution for smart industrial monitoring.
