Evaluation of the Performance of Organized Private Transport Companies in Kwara State, Nigeria

Abstract


The study performed an evaluation of the performance of organized private transport companies in Kwara State, Nigeria. Literature abounds in transport study with little concern about the topic of interest. It pre-set this specific objective which was to appraise the influence of nature of transport service on performance of private transport companies in Kwara state. The study was carried out in Ilorin Kwara state. Purposive sampling was employed to capture data, while inferential statistic was employed for the study. Findings showed that the F-value and the critical p-value were 54.563 and 0.000 at 0.05 level of statistical significance. Thus nature of transport service significantly influence performance of private transport companies. R2 was 0.628 which implied that the extent to which nature of transport service; transport service covers both human and goods, Transport service to neighboring country is available, Transport service is solely for goods, Transport service is solely for people, Transport service to all the state capital in the country is available, Transport service is available through day and night explained a variation in transport company performance. It was concluded that nature of transport service influenced performance of private transport companies. The study recommended that Transport Company should ensure that all round the clock service availability is promoted by their company while at the same time service discrimination should be discourage.
