Impact of Digital Mobility Technologies on Travel Patterns in Lagos Metropolis
Abstract
The urban mobility landscape in Lagos Metropolis has been transformed significantly by the advent of digital mobility technologies, particularly ride-hailing services like Uber and Bolt. This study investigates the impact of these technologies on travel patterns in Lagos, employing a quantitative research design. Data were collected through a field survey of 470 respondents, examining demographic, socio-economic characteristics, and changes in travel behavior. The findings reveal substantial changes in travel behavior, with 26.2% of respondents experiencing significant changes and 48.5% reporting increased travel frequency. Regression analysis highlights the significance of ride-hailing services, socio-economic factors, and prior travel frequency in predicting changes in travel behavior. These insights are essential for policymakers and urban planners in developing efficient transportation solutions for Lagos.
