Dual Input DC-DC Converter for Electrical Vehicle

Abstract


In this paper, we presented an ideology for designing & implementing to develop a controller that utilizes an electric vehicle's (EV) battery while the vehicle is in motion, with the backup support of a connected solar photovoltaic (PV) system in case of emergencies. The EV battery is a 12V Li-ion battery with a capacity of 5Ah. The on-board charger (OBC) is responsible for charging the battery using a constant current and constant voltage method. To test the battery's capability, a BLDC motor is connected, which requires a motor controller rated at 24V and 10 Amps. Additionally, a boost converter is employed to convert the battery's 12V to 24V DC for the motor, which has a 24V DC rating and a capacity of 150W. This project aims to demonstrate the viability of utilizing the EV battery while moving and implementing a backup energy system for emergencies.
