Review: Comparison of Lightweight Encryption’s Providing Security in IoT

Smrithi Mohan

Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a promising technology which is used to connect billions of devices. The increased number of communication is used to generate data and the security of data can be a threat. The devices in the architecture are being essentially smaller in size and low powered. Conventional encryption algorithms are generally devices in the architecture that are essentially being smaller in size and low powered. Conventional encryption algorithms are generally computational expensive due to their complexity and also require many rounds to encrypt. Here we are proposing new advancing technology, “Lightweight Cryptography”, in the IoT. The   main reasons that support the proposal are Efficiency of end-to-end communication & Applicability to lower resource devices. In order to achieve end-to-end communication security, end nodes have an implementation of a symmetric key algorithm for the low resource-devices, the cryptographic operation with a limited amount of energy consumption. Lightweight symmetric key algorithm allows lower energy consumption for end devices. The footprint of the lightweight cryptographic primitives is smaller than the conventional cryptographic algorithm .The lightweight cryptographic will leads to open possibilities of more network connections with lower resource devices.
