Utilizing an Android Application, an Autonomous Water Irrigation Control System

Y. Kannan

Abstract

One of the primary sources of energy is agriculture, and for plantations, adequate irrigation is crucial. This paper discusses an automatic irrigation system that uses a Raspberry Pi microcontroller and an Android application. Here, sensors for temperature and moisture are used to keep an eye on the farm. It has a function such that switching the pump motor ON/OFF through android cell phone. This irrigation system has low cost. This system is useful to provide optional amount of water for increasing the productivity of crop.
