Abstract

Our project satisfies the 4 important pillars of MAKE IN INDIA initiative - New process, new infrastructure, and new mindset, helping in increasing the GDP of country. The prime objective of the project is to design and build a cost effective UAV having robotic system for maintenance of high voltage transmission line. Currently, there is a lack of unmanned aerial vehicles having a robotic system attached to  it having a cleaning and crawling mechanism that are being used with the purpose of maintenance of power transmission line. In, developing country like, India old techniques like LIVE LINE WASHING is used for maintenance purpose which involves direct human intervention. So, here we propose a economical, safer, less time consuming and more efficient solution to this problem. The purpose of this project is to build an UAV having a launch pad in which robotic system is attached which has a crawling and cleaning mechanism using DM water or dry cleaning materials. UAV is manually operated to reach the desired location and consequently the pressure sensor and ultrasonic sensor sends a signal to a microcontroller for the change in pressure and horizontal distance relative to the line. The microcontroller starts performing calculation for measurement of vertical height and horizontal distance relative to the line. If the required calculation is within the specified limit the microcontroller initializes the motor to open the launch pad attach to the UAV to fit and hold the robotic system and start the cleaning and crawling mechanism.
