Abstract

The Solar Desalination unit, a very effective process makes contaminated, impure, dirty water into clean one. Solar water desalination system using nonconventional energy as a means of obtaining drinkable cold water, in summer season comparatively at low cost and high capacity. It is a unification of solar desalination and Peltier cooler for both of purifying and cooling the system. Material like wood, cork sheet used as insulator, glass as passing media of heat into the basin, a Peltier for cooling water is used here. Heat sinks are used to heat transfer in fluid (2 heat sinks, larger for extracting heat from cold side, and small heat sink to flow coldness in cold portion). Peltier cooling system was used for cooling the water. The water entrapped in solar basin evaporates, condenses into water droplets which drips down through a channel and flows into a jar. The poured water is then cold by Peltier cooling system. The simplicity of Solar Water Desalination unit (SWD) makes it ideal for disaster situation while people dying for thirst of pure, drinkable water. This fresh cold drinkable water pure water helps them to prevent this kind of Cholera, Diarrheal disease during disaster and even in summer days. The production capacity indicates a possible daily production 2 litre drinkable water cooling up to 6 oC to 7 oC with single Peltier module.
