Design and Fabrication of Economically Feasible Abrasive Jet Machine
Abstract
Abrasive jet machining (AJM), also known as abrasive micro-blasting, In those process the abrasive travel with the high-speed gas to erode the material from the work piece. The different uses of these machining process include cutting, Heat sensitive, brittle, thin or hard materials. Mainly it is used to cut complicated shapes or to form different edge shapes. Abrasive jet machining (AJM) is the process of removing a material from a specific work piece with help of high jet velocity abrasive particles which is mixed with a gas medium from a nozzle. The main reason for the removal of material through this process is erosion. The main uses of AJM are to cut shapes, Drill holes and De-burr in hard and brittle material like glass etc. The reduce in performance of the machine has been minimize by using less fabricated component. The various component of AJM include Abrasive draining system, Machining chamber, Work holding device, Compressor, Nozzle, Filter and regulator and mixing chamber. Availability is an important factor in AJM, the materials like Aluminum Sheet and Mild steel are easily available in the market. The crafting of the machine has been done with the help of Grinding Machine, Arc welding Machine and many different machine tools in the college foundry. The Machine has to be automated so that it will have 3 axes travel by using driving arrangement and microcontroller along with stepper motor. After appropriate design calculation we have conclude to use these different components.
