Abstract

In this research article an attempt has been made to numerically examine the performance of an axisymmetric fin. The finite volume approach has been adopted to discretize the governing equations on a uniformly spaced grid. Successive over relaxation has been used to solver the nodal equations iteratively to arrive at converged solution for temperature variation within the domain. Influence of varying thermal conductivity of fin material and surrounding convective heat transfer has been examined and reported. A python code has been written in Jupyter notebook for solving the finite volume problem.
