Study of Heat Transfer Characteristics of Pin Fin through Shape Modification into a Spring

Abhijit Biswas

Abstract

The aim of our project is to modify the shape of the fin into a Spring Fin. Our main focus is to increase the surface area of our new design so as to achieve more Heat Transfer Rate than the existing Fin designs such that it is easily manufacturable to keep the cost low. In this report, experimental analysis were carried out on the spring fin to study the heat transfer rate, Nusselt's Number and its performance over Natural Convection and Forced Convection.
