Food Donation Web Application Using HTML, CSS, and Firebase

Abstract


Food wastage and hunger continue to be major social issues in many parts of the world. Every day, large quantities of edible food are thrown away by restaurants, canteens, and event halls, while many people still struggle to access proper meals.This paper presents a web-based food donation system designed to reduce wastage and create a real-time link between food donors and nearby NGOs. The application uses HTML and CSS for its interface, while Firebase functions as the backend to manage data storage, user authentication, and hosting. The platform allows donors to quickly register, upload food availability details, and share donation information with NGOs in their vicinity. NGOs can view these donations instantly, contact donors, and arrange timely collection before the food is wasted. The interface is clean, responsive and can be used both on mobile and desktop. This project encourages community participation, raises social awareness, and contributes toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal 2 — Zero Hunger.
