Design and Manufacture of Cashew Nut Shelling Machine Paper
Abstract
This paper examines the mechanical properties of cashew nuts and how to cut the shell quickly using machinery. Currently, the cashew nut's shell is sheared manually, which is labor-intensive and risky. Due to its oily nature, the cashew nut shell shearing process produces a corrosive liquid that is dangerous and takes a lot of time. Unskilled workers may be able to operate this power-operated cashew nut sheller. With this, the kernel can be released from the shell without breaking or being damaged. A power-operated automatic cashew nut sheller is based on the shear principle, with cutters mounted on sliding guideways. Presently a-days few programmed cashew nut shelling machines are available yet there are a few issues, for example, it can't be changed along the aide according to the size of cashew nut consequently effectiveness of machine might get decreased and cost might increment. By developing an automatic cashew nut shelling machine with a spring adjustment guide that adjusts to the size of the cashew nut, this study solves the issue and increases productivity. First, the cashew nut shell's fracture point and the necessary depth for cutting it are determined. Based on the fracture point, a guide vee is made near the cutting section. An automatic cashew nut sheller has two cutters that automatically feed cashew nuts one at a time through a Vee guide while shearing the nuts. Shaper is mounted on sliding aide ways which move between the two Vee guides which conveys two sharp edges which makes influence load on cashew nut. The cutter is controlled by these two blades, which are used to separate the kernels from the shell. The nut falls freely into the tray after being deshelled because of gravity. The finding suggests that the machine can handle 25 kilograms per hour. A semi-automatic method is compared to a manual method in this paper's summary. It likewise manages the upsides of self-loader technique with regards to improved efficiency, quality and cost. CATIA is used for the drafting and modeling phases, and the design data book is used for part design. As production costs drop dramatically, this paper's practical implications have a significant impact on the cashew nut industry.
