Case Study: Human Factors Specialists as a Lifeline for Other System Designers

Abstract


It is difficult for human elements experts to be viewed as a partner framework planner of man-machine frameworks. They are typically consulted for in-depth user interface design. However, fundamental questions about task allocation, which are necessary for an ideal man-machine interface, are left out of this design phase. This case demonstrates the role of the human factors specialist by describing the development of a warning system for train drivers. The first inquiry for the advance notice framework abandoned definite plan level towards a full organization in framework configuration by covering issues in which human variables experts separate themselves from IT trained professionals.
