S. Vijaylakshmi, Pankaj Sharma, Rohit Singh, Koustav Das

Abstract

Smart cards are widely used in various fields such as payment, access and Internet of Things because they support a secure and reliable environment for developing various applications. The introduction of multi-application hosting capabilities on a single card greatly improves usability. Contactless smart cards with Internet of Things Radio Frequency ID have revolutionized smart card usage. The development of various cryptographic algorithms in smart cards has made them particularly suitable for use in sensitive applications. The overuse of smart cards is shifting us towards a safer, more secure and smarter world. Besides being used as a product, smart card data is collected and used in AI systems for prediction. This white paper explores several key application areas of smart cards to understand and analyze how this technology is being adopted in various applications and domains.
