Ejector as an Expansion Device in Vapor Compression, Refrigeration Cycle– A study

D. K. Joshi

Abstract

Two-phase ejectors have been attaining attention in recent years due to their capability to directly improve the COP of the cycle .Two-phase ejectors play a vital role as an expansion device in vapor compression refrigeration systems .Also can find prospective applications in many other industrial processes. Use of two-phase flow in the ejector is important to optimize energy saving of the system. It also explains the effects of geometrical parameters of the ejector as an expansion control mechanism on the performance of vapor compression refrigeration cycle. In the study, the effect of working fluid on the two-phase ejector expansion refrigeration system is also covered. It is expected that the challenges for future research based on design of two-phase ejector, is how to generate a pressure rise in diffuser for getting minimum compressor work (less electrical energy) and best possible enhancement in COP. This study presents a wide spread study of two-phase ejector used as an expansion mechanism in vapor compression refrigeration cycle for last few years
