Development of a C Program for Thermal and Structural Analysis in Die Casting Processes
Abstract
A popular manufacturing technique for creating intricate metal pieces with extreme precision is die casting. However, optimizing the process requires a detailed understanding of the thermal and structural behavior of the Mold and molten metal. This paper presents the development of a C programming-based simulation tool that assists in analyzing the heat transfer and stress distribution during the die casting process. The program employs numerical methods, such as finite difference and finite element methods, to simulate the cooling of molten metal and the structural integrity of the die. By inputting material properties, mold geometry, and casting conditions, the tool can predict hot spots, shrinkage, and potential defects, providing valuable insights for optimizing die casting designs. This paper outlines the methodology, implementation, and validation of the C program, demonstrating its effectiveness in improving the efficiency and quality of die casting operations.
