Python-based finite volume modeling of an axisymmetric cylindrical fin
Abstract
An attempt has been made to investigate the performance of an axisymmetric fin numerically in this research work. The governing equations have been discretized on an evenly spaced grid using the finite volume technique. To get a convergent solution for temperature change inside the domain, the nodal equations have been solved iteratively using successive over relaxation. The impact of the fin material's variable thermal conductivity and the surrounding convective heat transfer has been studied and documented. To solve the finite volume problem, a Python code has been built in a Jupyter notebook.
