A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge Regarding the Adverse Effect of Drug Abuse Among Adolescents in Selected School in Aryancode Panchayat

Abstract


Adolescence is a crucial period for the beginning and experimentation with new things. It would be vital to examine the knowledge regarding the adverse effect of drug abuse among the adolescents. Objectives: to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on adverse effect of drug abuse among adolescents and to find out association between knowledge and selected demographic variables .   Method:Simple random sampling techniques was used for this study. Sample size of 100 adolescents of age 13-17 are selected. A structured questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics based on predefined objectives of the study. Results:The study assess the pre test knowledge regarding adverse effect of drug abuse among adolescents scores shows that 1(1%) have adequate knowledge, 35(35%) have moderate knowledge, 64(64%) have inadequate knowledge. On post test it shows as 33(33%) have adequate knowledge and 67(67%) have moderate knowledge. There is a positive relation between knowledge and selected demographic variables.
