Green Computing: Eco-Friendly Computing Resources

Sheetal Maheshwari

Abstract

Green Computing is a modern drift towards designing, building and operating computer systems to be energy proficient. Although programs like Energy Star have been around because the early 1990s, latest concerns regarding global climate change and the energy disaster have led to transformed significance in Green Computing. This activity is not just restricted to saving electricity, but also takes a holistic move towards eco-friendly use of computers. Formulating pioneering and environment-conscious procedure for energy generation is also one of its features. Prospects lie in green technology like never before in the past and organizations are considering it as a technique to generate latest profit centers while trying to facilitate the environmental cause. The plan towards green IT technology should consist of innovative electronic products and services with optimum effectiveness and all promising opportunities towards energy savings.
