Advancements in Solid-State Welding Processes

Anant Dattatray Awasare

Abstract

Solid-state welding processes have evolved significantly, presenting a range of techniques that join materials without melting the base metals. This paper explores the latest advancements in solid-state welding, focusing on the underlying mechanisms, technological innovations, and their practical applications in various industries. Techniques such as friction stir welding (FSW), ultrasonic welding, and diffusion bonding are examined in detail. The paper highlights improvements in process control, material compatibility, and joint strength, providing a comprehensive overview of how these advancements are addressing current industrial challenges. Case studies from aerospace, automotive, and electronics sectors illustrate the real-world benefits of these technologies. The paper concludes with a discussion on future trends and potential research directions in the field of solid-state welding.
