The Examination of Industry 4.0 Implementation Challenges in Bangladesh

Aparna Rao Gupta

Abstract

Industry 4.0, introduced by the German government in 2011, is a transformative initiative that aims to revolutionize industrial manufacturing by integrating information technology with modern technologies. This transformation enables industries to enhance flexibility, efficiency, and customization in their production processes. This study explores the concepts of Industry 4.0, its core components, and the challenges of implementing it in developing countries, with a focus on Bangladesh. Through surveys, several obstacles were identified, including inadequate infrastructure, cheap labor availability, expensive technology installation costs, lack of government support, and insufficient knowledge. The study also proposes solutions to overcome these challenges and highlights the potential benefits of implementing Industry 4.0, particularly in Bangladesh’s garment sector, a key export industry.
