Abstract

Urbanization and rapid population growth in developing countries like Nigeria have brought significant challenges to transportation and land use systems. This study evaluates the relationship between land use and travel patterns in Oluyole Estate, Ibadan, Oyo State. Using data collected from 450 respondents, descriptive and inferential statistical methods such as t-tests, regression, and mean-ranking analysis were employed. The findings revealed that factors like proximity to commercial centers, availability of walkways, and eco-friendly travel modes significantly affect travel patterns. The study concludes that integrating land use planning with transportation strategies can enhance urban mobility and sustainability. Recommendations for policymakers are provided to address identified challenges.
