A Literature Review on Role of Garbhavakranti in Promoting Maternal and Fetal Health in Ayurveda

Dr. H.A.R.P. Perera, Dr. R.V. Vidhyajini

Abstract

The term "Garbhavakranthi" refers to the descent of the spirit into the body, its implantation following conception, and its passage through to childbirth. Ayurveda describes the Avayava Utpatti in terms of various combos and architectural designs of Dosha, Dhatu, Upadhatu, and Mala, while modern embryology holds that the trigeminal disc and ideas of tissue differentiation play a key role in the development of the body and its parts. This research aims to create a common idea and cover the knowledge gap by comparing and connecting Garbhavakranti information with modern embryology. The study's overall findings emphasize the value of traditional Ayurvedic knowledge in supporting maternal and fetal health and indicate that fusing it with Western medical practices may result in more successful therapies for congenital abnormalities.
