Abstract

Common in both humans and animals, adenoviruses are DNA viruses that frequently infect people, particularly adults and children. Of the over 100 serologically distinct viral types, 49 are known to affect humans. Most infections are asymptomatic; however the virus affects several organ systems. The examination and treatment of adenovirus are explained in this activity, which also emphasizes the importance of the interprofessional team in evaluating and treating individuals with this illness.
