Etiology, Epidemiology, Patho Physiology, Diagnosis, Differential Diagnosis, Treatment, Prognosis and Complications of Para Influenza Virus
Abstract
A member of the Para myxoviridae family, the human para influenza virus (HPIV) is an encapsulated, negative-sense, single-stranded RNA virus. In children, typically those under five, immunocompromised people, and the elderly, HPIV can cause both upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) and lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI). It is among the leading causes of illness and infant death in the world. This activity underlines the importance of the interprofessional team in managing patients with this illness and provides information on how to diagnose and treat parainfluenza virus infections.
