Multiple Target Detection by URA-based Surveillance Radar

Sheikh Shafaet Islam, Shariful Islam

Abstract

Due to its widespread application in military communication and exploration, a surveillance radar system for multiple target identification has drawn the attention of academics in recent decades. The limitations of existing radar systems can be reformed by employing a surveillance radar system that is able to detect multiple moving targets by estimating their ranges, angles, and speeds. This paper offers the idea of a uniform rectangular array (URA)-based surveillance radar system and this research conveys the idea. A 40×40 URA scanning between −45° and +45° is employed for detecting multiple targets, which can improve the performance of the proposed system. Two moving targets are taken into consideration to be detected with their ranges, angles, and speeds by adjusting all the radar and target characteristics to assess the efficacy of the offered system. When compared with existing techniques, the proposed radar system performs admirably, exhibiting superior accuracy in identifying two moving targets while preserving an ideal signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at all ranges, angles, and speeds.
