Design and Analysis of Two-Stage Air Compressor

Dokku Srinivasarao

Abstract

Compressed air is useful for numerous operations in industries. The multistage compressors play a very significant role for supplying requisite compressed air at preferred pressures. This work explains the design and analysis of cylinder and piston of a two stage responds Air Compressor to the taken provision for both low pressure and high pressure stages. A restricted element model for cylinder and piston is built and analysis of these components is carried by using ANSYS, for both low pressure and high pressure stages during the suction and compression stroke. So as to recognize the location of utmost stress concentration and to recognize the areas those are likely to fail. The plan of the project is to design a two stage air compressor by using empirical formulas. A 2D drawing is outlined from the computations and a 3D model is designed using 3D modeling software Pro/Engineer.
