Design and Implementation of Aircraft check-in baggage scan verification using mobile network

Yuvaraj. A

Abstract

In recent years mishandled and lost baggage has become one of the most common crisis around the world. Around 1.4 million luggages are deemed to be lost every year. The total count nears to approximately 28 million baggages. Our proposed project deals with the design and implementation of a baggage scan verification using cellular network .The design of this project is generated by keeping three IR sensors in the conveyer belt, placing a camera to capture the QR code in a particular baggage. It uses raspberry pi as a basic Operating system (OS) and with the help of GSM, a confirmation message for baggage scanning can be easily sent to the passenger’s mobile phone. The implementation of this technology helps to reduce the rate of lost and mishandled baggage. Our proposed project is theoretically and practically tested and the outcome is near to perfect.
