Abstract

This research centres on analyzing the losses and hence, the performance of the PV plant connected to the grid network using PVsyst 7.2.6 programming software. The plant's output power is 500kW with 1962 panels installed. It has 18 panels connected in series and 109 panels joined in parallel. The station has 1,140,796kWh DC energy produced per year and actualAC energy of 1,114,502kWh sent to the grid. The losses due to the quality of the modules (ModQual) is 3,811.050kWh per year, losses due to modular incompatibility (MisLoss) is 24,705kWh per year, losses due to wiring (Ohm loss) is 10,941kWh per year, losses due to inverter operation is 25,489kWhper year, and the sum of losses by inverter system is 26,294kWh per year, as there are no losses due to: starting power (IL Pmin), high charging (IL Pmax), low voltage power point window (IL Vmin); and highest voltage power point (IL Vmax). The performance ratio of the plant is 83.2% with a total loss of less than 20%. It is found that the station is 97.7% efficient. The plant saved 9044.009 tons of carbon from being emitted into the atmosphere.
